For the last 4 months, Upwork has been testing two New Filters in Job Search for freelancers. Starting last month, the Hourly Rate Filter in the job search is now available to all talent, so let's start the post with it.
You can enter or select rate ranges when selecting either "Hourly" or "Fixed-Price" under Job Type. With Fixed-Price jobs, the filter works exactly as you would expect it to. It shows only jobs within your selected range.
But for Hourly Rate jobs, the system works in a somewhat specific way. You may notice results outside of the rates selected in cases where clients set a range for a job post that falls within the parameters you have chosen.
In practice, this means that you still need to filter through the options manually. For example, look at the image.

We've set a filter from $45 to $55, and the first 2 jobs are in two completely different ranges! One from $5 to $45, and another one from $50 to $100. While this does fall within our chosen $45-$55 filter, these are jobs for entirely different levels of expertise.
Another point raised by one of the freelancers on the Upwork community is that using the filter disqualifies the jobs that do not specify the price range.
So, this new update is valuable and should make job search easier for the talent. But you need to consider these two points above when using it to maximize your effort's effectiveness.
This filter was announced for testing at the same time as the rate filter. But if the first filter is now available to all talent, the second one seems to still be in testing mode. This option should be particularly useful for agencies because having a team of freelancers is their competitive advantage for such jobs.
The ‘Freelancers needed’ search option provides two ways to filter multi-freelancer jobs:
