Upwork updates.

What's new?

Upwork has released a few updates recently. You all probably noticed new colours and style change, so we are not going to write a whole post describing design system upgrade. Here are two more interesting updates you might have missed.

1. Optimization of job post descriptions for clients.

How it works?

Upwork removed everything that detracted clients from writing a job description from that page. As clients start writing a job post description, they’ll see a guide about what freelancers are looking for in a job post:

  • clear expectations about tasks or deliverables
  • the skills required for the client’s work
  • good communication
  • details about how the client and their team like to work.

Why is it important?

For clients Upwork added useful tips on how to describe what they need well. New clients on the platform will finally be able to understand how to write a Job Post that can attract the attention and five enough information for experienced freelancers.

2. It’s now possible to create to-dos from message center.

How it works?

  • An automatic message from the Message Center will prompt you to create to-dos when an new hourly contracts starts.

  • You can also create to-dos by selecting either “Add a to-do” from the Message Center header or “Add as a to-do” in an individual message.

Why is it important?

Miscommunication is the biggest problem in most client-freelancer relationships. That’s why it’s essential to align expectations and the new feature allows to do it very easily. Both parties of an hourly contract will see current tasks directly in the messages and everyone will know what next steps to expect.

It’s also easy to convert a message into a task with a couple of clicks. So you won’t forget about anything without wasting time to scroll through the messages trying to find the task you might have missed.
