Branding, Design & WordPress Development

design & wordpress development robotcritters laptop

When starting a new company, sometimes it’s hard for entrepreneurs to structure all the ideas they have in their head into a functioning product. At Etcetera, we believe that it’s our task to work together with such founders as partners to help them turn the ideas into a marketable product.

RobotCritters is an enthusiast blog website about futuristic technologies. The client had an idea to build a website where he would post content, gather his audience and eventually transform it into a content related marketplace. We helped RobotCritters with branding, design & WordPress development.

In order to start the work we asked the client to organize all the ideas about the future website into the following:

  1. Brand Identity references
  2. List of functionality
  3. Raw site-map

To help the client at this stage put his thoughts into paper, we shared some educational materials on how to prepare the information. Based on the 3 documents above, we were able to find an approach to the project from both design and development perspectives in order to secure effective and fast scalability in future.

RobotCritters design & WordPress development project had 3 stages:

  1. Branding. We kicked off our project from creating clients company brand identity. Our designer made a Style Guide which included Logo, Company colours and Fonts, so that future designers had a base to work with.

  2. After the Brand Identity was formed I started working on the UI/UX of clients website. During this design process he also kept in mind that the product will be evolving, so the design was though out to the smallest details.

  3. After the design was completed the project was forwarded to our developer. He started from the markup process and converted design files and into HTML base. Once that was done he added CSS and JavaScript. The main functionality of the MVP was the possibility for the client to create blog posts that would be assigned to different category pages, and website users could choose which category posts they would like to receive on their email as newsletter. The blog functionality was achieved using WordPress capabilities in combination with custom PHP. However for the email subscription our agency developer used Subscribe2 plugin a pre-made paid solution.
