July 5 is observed as National Workaholics Day. While not exactly a holiday, we want to dedicate today's post to those who prefer work over rest, social interactions, and hobbies. We know by experience how hard it is sometimes to stop working. There are so many tasks we feel compelled to do and problems to solve.
Stop saying ‘Yes’ to everyone and everything. The cornerstone of essentialism is the never-ending task of identifying the less important things in your life to cut out. It’s important to understand that you will not be losing opportunities, but you will be focusing on the priority!
Reject the notion that we should accomplish everything. Essentialism isn’t about making tiny progress in many directions. Instead, choose a direction that matters most to you and only does what brings you close to the target.
Constantly question yourself and update your plans. Before jumping into performing a new task, make a pause and think if it’s so important after all. The essentialist is always deciding whether the task is worth it or investing the time and energy in a more productive area.
We hope we could remind you about the importance of keeping your work-life balance because, without it, you will be just working a lot, but not working effectively.
