A new Upwork update is live. You can now add a certification to your profile using Credly. Let’s talk about what it means?
It’s an online platform that lets you collect your digital credentials. They are called badges. It is supposed to boost your career and provide more opportunities.
Create an account with Credly (this part is easy 😅).
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be able to claim any credentials that accrediting institutions have shared with Credly.
Good news is that there are already many useful certifications on the platform, such as 46 IBM Badges (on Python or Cybersecurity, for example), courses on Marketing, Development, and other skills. Bad news is that most of the courses you might have already passed, will not likely to be there. 🤷♀️ So, if you wanted to create an account and add your existing certifications, you won’t be able to do that unless the issuing institution is already working with Credly.
If you are lucky and your course has a badge on Credly, then it will be added to your account and you can connect it to Upwork. Go to the Certifications section in your profile profile. In addition to the current “Add Manually” option, there will be an option to “Import from Credly”. So, you will be able to select your Credly badges to display as certifications on Upwork.
Credly has a convenient search by skills and institutions. So, if you are looking for a good course on a particular skill, you can find the right certification there and then receive the badge after completion.
If you enter your specialization in Credly search, you can find a lot of job listings with the estimated yearly salary and a location internationally. For example, a copywriter can see a lot of opportunities for jobs in the USA for over $100k a year in companies such as MasterClass, Salesforce, or Shutterstock. There are a lot of options for developers as well, for instance, 1845 job postings for a full stack developer in New York, Atlanta or Chicago for companies such as Oracle and Deloitte.
This integration with Credly will be rolling out gradually. Is it already working for you?
