We used to know our area of control, have plans for the future, and to-do lists for the day. When the war started we all lost this feeling of control. Many of us now feel powerless and confused. But it’s important to regain this control, at least over the smallest things, so that we can fight and face the victory in a decent emotional state.
March 30th is called I am in control day. Here are some small tips on how to improve your emotional health during war.
Try to sleep well, maybe even more than you usually do. If you have trouble falling asleep, it’s ok to use pills, or you can try meditation.
Drink more water and eat healthy food. Snacks are not a good option, even if you don’t feel hungry.
Make it a habit to stop checking the news and social media all the time. Dedicate a special time during the day when you catch up with the news and keep yourself away from them at other times. You might feel in control if you know the military and political developments every hour, but it just exhausts your emotions more and more.
It’s ok to consume other kinds of information other than relative to the war. Try to spend some time every day watching a movie, reading books or listening to some educational courses.
Try to worry about the material things less. We know you worked hard to buy them all, but we will earn more and buy better things after the war. For now, there is little use in worrying about those things.
Make a plan for the day and the week. Include work things, personal business, and anything else important that might skip your mind. If you left your home, make a list of documents and registrations to receive.
Talk more with your family and friends either offline or online if you are far away. Tell them how you feel and that you love them.
We hope this is useful! But different things help different people. So, try as many tips as possible and find those that help you best.
