Updates

Wondering what's new with Upwork? It has been working hard to improve the UI and here is the list of the most recent updates on the platform over the last month.

Upwork is trying to make its Work Diary more stable and improve mobile experience. The process will take a few month, during which you may see different versions of the diary.

Changes:

  • Logged time is now displayed in groups based on the continuous session. Previous design showed the logged time populated in rows segmented in one-hour increments.
  • New colors to differentiate logged time( Dark blue for tracked time, light blue for manual).
  • Billing segments will now be more easily viewable with the mobile app.
  • Added an ability to edit individual billing/time segments, or remove an entire group of time.
  • New clock icon for time zone preferences. + agencies can select “Client’s local time”.

They moved a few things around, added a big banner at the top and a Saved Jobs tab. We won't spend much time on this one. You probably have already seen it.

The test rolled out for some users only who, for the time being, can switch between the old and new versions.

  • These changes reflect, in large part, technical modernization.
  • The Messages are now displayed in bubbles.
  • Max attachment size is 1GB in the new version vs 95MB in the old.

Some time ago, clients with a paid membership received an option to send direct messages to freelancers prior to the creation of a job post. They are now testing it to allow clients to direct message agencies as well.

  • When a client sends a message to the agency, a Messages room is created with all of the agency’s managers.
  • Clients are limited to sending messages to 5 agencies per day.
  • This feature will be available to all clients, not just those on paid accounts.
