Mental health affects every aspect of our lives, from productivity at work to the quality of our relationships. For those working in creative and digital fields, constant pressure, tight deadlines, and high demands can take a toll on mental health.

Freelancers and digital professionals often face mental health challenges like:

  • Burnout due to irregular schedules and blurred boundaries between work and rest.
  • Anxiety about unstable income and the search for new projects.
  • Depression from social isolation while working from home.
  • Imposter syndrome, where people doubt their own competence.

In Ukraine, with the ongoing war, mental health has become even more critical. Constant stress, worry for loved ones, information overload, and an uncertain future add extra strain on everyone’s mental state.

Freelancers and digital workers in Ukraine face additional challenges on top of the usual professional demands:

  • – Stress from air raid alarms and working in unstable conditions.
  • Anxiety about the future of projects and collaborations with international clients.
  • Emotional exhaustion from the constant war news.
  • Guilt for being able to work while others are defending the country.

Taking care of your mental health during wartime isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. Your resilience and ability to keep working is your contribution to Ukraine’s victory. By supporting yourself, you’re also supporting your country.

We’ll be sharing a series of posts with tips and resources to help you stabilize and improve your mental and emotional well-being. Below is a list of initiatives and organizations you can turn to for help with mental health

Ukrainian Organizations:

“How Are You?” Nationwide Mental Health Program: This initiative offers self-help materials, hotline contacts, and information about organizations providing free psychological support.

UA Mental Health Foundation: Provides psychoeducation and access to psychologists to support mental health.

Hotlines in Ukraine providing psychological support:

  • National Psychological Association – 0 800 100 102 (available daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM)
  • International organization “People in Need” – 0 800 210 160 (anonymous and 24/7)
  • IOM Emotional Support Hotline – 0 800 211 444
  • National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Support Hotline (Lifeline Ukraine) – 7333
  • Domestic Violence Hotline – 1547

International Organizations and Resources:

Find A Helpline: A website with information about over 1,300 helplines in more than 130 countries. You can search for support based on your issue or location.

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC): Offers psychosocial support in crisis situations and has programs in many countries.
