Did you notice Upwork is testing new filters for job search? Starting May 23, half of all freelancers can see reordered and new Upwork job filters. Are you in half participating in the test?
New filters can search for jobs by region, sub-region, and international time zones. The most-used filters are open, and the least-used filters are folded up. Previously, they showed all the filters open, and you could only select individual countries under the Client Location. Now, the filters are reordered, and the new Client Location filter includes additional options.
Upwork launched the test after a survey and individual interviews of over 12,000 freelancers who complained of the inability to search for clients based on regions, sub-regions, and international time zones. What would you reply if you participated in such a survey?
This update appears to be really useful as you can select several locations or time zones and exclude those you don’t want to work with. For example, you can only choose time zones that fit well for online calls depending on where you are located. Also, we think it’s great that a freelancer can now filter out those countries or regions that are not interesting for them either because of personal preferences or price-range, which should significantly decrease the amount of time spend searching for great projects.
