Who are “Anywhere Workers”

and how to become them?

Freelancers, remote workers, gig-workers… Fiverr and Lonely Planet recently published a study , creating yet another term for what seems to be the same thing - the Anywhere Workers. Let's see what's interesting in the report and how the Anywhere Workers differentiate.

Who are Anywhere Workers?

The report claims that the expression 'Digital Nomad' is outdated and does not rightly represent all the working travelers anymore. Many people who are now living this kind of lifestyle do not fit in the image of a nomad - couples, families, and experienced workers, for example. That's why they coined the word Anywhere Workers, referring to people who work remotely and travel or live in at least 2 or more states or countries throughout the year.

Here are the most interesting facts from the study, based on responses of 1400 people of 67 nationalities:

  • 54% of Anywhere Workers also identify themselves as remote workers.
  • Most Anywhere Workers have been traveling and working for 1-2 years.
  • 55% of respondents enjoy working in one location and traveling every 3 months.
  • 56% of Anywhere Workers are males, and 44% are females.
  • 70% of Anywhere Workers are between 25-44 years old, but 13% are between 45-54 years old.
  • Almost half (45%) of respondents are married and 70% are parents.
  • More than half of Anywhere Workers work full-time (61%).
  • The majority of Anywhere Workers work in IT, Engineering, Consulting, Business Intelligence, and Architecture/Interior Design.
  • 98% of Anywhere Workers want to continue working remotely and traveling for the foreseeable future.
  • 40% of Anywhere Workers stated that they are earning more than before living this lifestyle, with 50% saying that their income has remained stable.

We think the last two facts are probably, the most important and speak for themselves. Whatever you call this kind of lifestyle - it's really working well, allowing people to earn stable, growing income and enjoy the way they live.
