Website Redesign and Development on Gutenberg, WordPress
In today’s world, a clear, bilingual website is essential for international research initiatives. One of Etcetera’s key areas of expertise is helping mission-driven organizations create platforms that are both functional and accessible.
In this case, we partnered with ChiNorClimate — a Norwegian-Chinese initiative focused on climate research and ecological transformation.
Their existing website was outdated, hard to navigate, and lacked multilingual support, making it difficult to communicate their work globally.
About the Project
ChiNorClimate promotes climate research, public awareness, and cross-border institutional collaboration. The team approached us with a request to redesign their site and improve the user experience for both English and Chinese audiences.
Our goal was to create a structured, dynamic, and modern platform that would reflect the organization’s scientific focus and support their work long term.

Design & Development Process
Redesign Stage
We began with a desktop-first approach in Figma, focusing on a clean, academic layout. Simultaneously, we redesigned the logo in Adobe Illustrator and prepared a concise style guide with typography, spacing, and color rules.
Development Stage
Using the approved layouts, we built a new website on Gutenberg. Custom blocks and post types were implemented for news, publications, and participants. The site was made fully responsive and featured bilingual switching, search filters by project and organization, and an optimized structure for scalability.
Results
The project resulted in a bilingual, modern platform that aligns with the organization’s values and scientific mission. Thanks to structured content types, improved UX, and a mobile-friendly layout, ChiNorClimate can now communicate its research globally with clarity and ease.
